Project Manager/Senior Project Manager- Water Infrastructure

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our growing Water Infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineering professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality water, wastewater, and stormwater projects while building strong client relationships and leading multidisciplinary teams.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the planning, delivery, financial performance, and overall success of a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in supporting clients, mentoring technical staff, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
·Manage projects throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial concept through to completion and close-out.
·Lead project teams and coordinate resources to achieve programme, quality, and financial objectives.
·Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, regulatory bodies, utility providers, and project partners.
·Identify project risks and implement mitigation measures to ensure successful delivery.
·Monitor project performance, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
Technical Delivery
Provide oversight and direction on a variety of water infrastructure projects, including:
·Drinking water treatment and distribution systems
·Water storage and pumping facilities
·Wastewater collection and treatment systems
·Stormwater and drainage schemes
·Sustainable drainage and green infrastructure solutions
·Regulatory compliance initiatives
·Infrastructure renewal and capital improvement programmes
Business Development & Planning
·Prepare project scopes, fee proposals, and service agreements.
·Support bid submissions, client presentations, and business development activities.
·Assist in developing project strategies, delivery plans, resource schedules, and budget forecasts.
·Collaborate with internal teams and specialist consultants to develop successful project solutions.
Project Administration
·Track project progress against programme and budget targets.
·Produce regular progress reports and financial updates.
·Manage contract variations and additional service requests where appropriate.
·Maintain accurate project records, correspondence, and documentation.
·Support revenue forecasting and invoicing processes.
Quality & Team Development
·Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers and technical staff.
·Review designs, calculations, specifications, and reports to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
·Promote best practice, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
·Support professional development and knowledge sharing across the business.
Client Relationship Management
·Act as a primary point of contact for clients.
·Build and maintain long-term relationships that encourage repeat business opportunities.
·Provide proactive advice and technical support throughout project delivery.
·Ensure client expectations are met and exceeded wherever possible.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
·Degree in Civil, Environmental, Water, or related Engineering discipline.
·Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent professional registration).
·Minimum of 7 years’ experience within the water infrastructure sector.
·Proven experience delivering water, wastewater, or stormwater engineering projects.
·Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
·Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
·Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
Desirable
·Experience with alternative project delivery methods.
·Knowledge of funding programmes and regulatory approval processes.
·Business development and client account management experience.
·Familiarity with project financial management and forecasting systems.
